 Why a Capital Campaign?

Cornerstone House of Santa Barbara is a non-profit organization that operates a residential care facility in Carpinteria and an annual summer camp for developmentally disabled children and young adults. For the first time since its founding in 1987, Cornerstone recently had the opportunity to purchase its facility at 1451 Camino Trillado, Carpinteria, ensuring the long-term security of our six developmentally disabled young adults who reside there.

In 2000 the board of directors of Cornerstone House initiated “There’s No Place Like Home,” a multi-year capital campaign.  Thanks to the generosity of many individuals, companies, and foundations, in the beginning of 2001 we were able to make a down payment on the house of $183,000.

How Can I Help?

We are still seeking funds necessary to completely pay off the mortgage within five years.  The resulting increase in cash flow will allow greater investments in direct care staff salaries and structural improvements to the facility.

All donations — large and small — will bring us closer to meeting our goal. Cornerstone House of Santa Barbara is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, and your contribution is tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Please make your check payable to “Cornerstone House of Santa Barbara” and mail to 1451 Camino Trillado, Carpinteria, CA 93013.
