About
Cornerstone House
Cornerstone House of Santa Barbara
operates a home for developmentally disabled young adults. This
home is located in a residential neighborhood in Carpinteria,
California.
The
Carpinteria home was established in 1985 with six children -
our maximum resident age was originally 18 but we have now removed
the upper age limit, as many of our original residents have grown
up and still reside in the home.
The
home is licensed by the State of California as an Intermediate
Care Facilities-Habilitative (ICFDD-H) designed for children
less medically involved with more potential for significant rehabilitation.
 All clients participate
in community-based programs weekdays. In the afternoon and on
weekends, clients regularly participate in a program of physical
therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy according to
each individual's needs.
The
Cornerstone staff includes an interdisciplinary team including
a pediatrician, registered nurse consultant, pharmacist, dietitian,
speech therapist, occupational, and physical therapist.
Other
medical specialists are available regularly such as Neurologist,
Orthopedist and ENT (Ears, Nose & Throat) Specialist.
The
house staff includes a Supervisor and Program Director, and there
is one trained program aide for each two residents in the home.
